As we battle through this season of Covid 19 I see it as a catalyst for change as we move from a world of industrialisation to a world of digitalisation. The digital world is having a huge effect on so many sectors and the retail sector is one that is particularly evident for us all to see. It is also affecting, as we all know, our young people. I spoke to an expert recently on this subject and his heart was to see the older generation trying to work out more about the digital world rather than simply holding it off at arm’s length and seeing it as a threat. “Put simply” he said, “the world is now digital and this is the space our young people are going to be inhabiting. To be constantly holding it off and steering young people clear of it is not allowing them to move in to the world that is theirs.”
I find this fascinating and I put my hand up as being one of those people that is always trying to hold off this digital revolution and I realise that I now need to reflect on what is and isn’t acceptable.
Can this be a challenge for all of us?
Wishing you all the best for Lockdown 2.0 – as always, I’m here to help!
